O.G. Bitch Reprise

The long awaited return of the famed pop electro group comes back in with a top of the pops sound. The Nelly Furtado moody vocals stylings doesn’t make this tune so welcome though. Hopefully this single is to get them back out there and adored once again by their fans. Although there is some spice thrown in by T. Shumaker for Home & Garden mix and not so inspiring funky ethnic jam by Smitty.

This is so up my alley I may move in. If you can start a compilation of your label's releases with 'Innocent' by Home & Garden, life must be very good. The slinkiness of Colette's vocals are capable of making you lose your head and you're only one track in. 'Lazy Transmissions' is anything but. you can tell the artists featured, including Trax, Gavin Froome, Morgan Page and Jon Delerious, have worked hard at their craft, all packaged with style by label boss Luke McKeehan. Sex in a CD jewel case and one of my albums of the year.

Beat It 2 Tha Side
Seasons

Tim Schumaker turns out a fusion mix; electric keys playing jazz parts over nice latin influenced backing. Good effort.

TECHELECTRO : VERSION 2.0
LoSonoFono / US / Techno Single

This companion to the recently released album by Techelectro (who are reputed to be a side-project of tech-pimps Solid Gold Playaz) offers diverse mixes of the album's elements by four underground dons. Tim Shumaker's Home & Garden mix brings smooth beats and soulful keys, while Davebot slides in some murky electro noise and DJ Slip centers his take on nifty tonal percussion. Stand back for the highlight: a sweet chunk of dense, dramatic and classically dubby techno generated by your man Landau. Ron Nachmann

HOME AND GARDEN : FINDING THE BALANCE OF LIFE
Aestoeric / US / House Single

Tim Shumaker dons his Home and Garden dungarees once again for this do-it-yourself guide to making real house. Famed for releases on Nordic Trax and Classic, the Chicago beat perfectionist digs deep to mine four sweaty dancefloor diamonds. Replete with signature quirky FX and '80s synths, "Saturdays" sees Tim tinkle the ivories in stunning freeform fashion. On the flip, "Roller Disco Theme" is all bass and compressed beats ala JT Donaldson and Lance DeSardi. -Luke Magnuson

XLR8R #50 Dec 2001
Luke McKeehan founder of Canada's Nordic Trax label, mixes tracks from Gavin Froome, Home & Garden, JT Donaldson & Chris Nazuka and Mtrax into one continuous, evolving groove. Home & Garden remix of "Trip Chick" by Mtrax is a characteristic of the label's sound with it's driving, smooth mix and rolling beats. Colette also graces Home & Garden's "Innocent" with her sweetly resonating voice. Lazy Transmissions represents Nordic Trax in a manner that is anything but lazy-rather, each track of the release is crafted with painstaking skill.

HOME & GARDEN "Beat It 2 Tha Side" Seasons Always good for a dose of techy Chicago-syled funk, Home & Garden issues another bleeped-out and bottomy EP for So Cal's Seasons Recordings. "Beat It 2 Tha Side" is a no-frills chunky houser that has been making the rounds with Farina, Heather, and most of the Chicago in-crowd with good reason, while the flip, "El Gapo," is a rolling downtempo cut for the warm-up or the cool-down.

House Music.com

On form 'Home & Garden' take over the reins for an eerie bug eyed mix, with underwater vocals, a serene Latin rhythm section and full blown swinging and at times slightly filtered, key solo. The bonus cut 'Rush' takes some quirky keys & bleeps, bass draws and inaudible vocals for a fun ride.

MUZIK

Tim Shumaker puts on his Home & Garden hat and turns in a fantastic beats driven Latino remix that lifts the track to a summer dimension. Rounding off the package is the late night disco tinged acid house track "Rush". This ep has been receiving wicked play on dancefloors worldwide and will appear in the April issue of MUZIK's 'Vital Vinyl' chart. The Home & Garden remix has appeared on Ali B's Capital FM (London) Club Chart in 7 Magazine for the last few weeks, as well as charts from Nick Holder, David Duriez, Andrew Macari & George T. Big up to all the deejays playing this one out and making it happen!

Home & Garden
“Finding The Balance In Life Ep”

Home and Garden drop a funky Classic/ Chicago styled instrumental ep for the ultra cool San Fran Aesoteric label. The main cut is an electro tinged jackathon of dusty shuffling drums and beautiful piano solos. Flipping a more techy edged cut that uses a groovy live b-line with metallic stabs & cowbell hits. Support coming from the usual suspects, Carter, Farina and Doc Martin.
